Example bracket for a category which has only 3 competitors in IBJJF rules based event looks like following:
- Fights 1 & 2 are considered as semi-finals.
- Winner of fight 1 goes straight to final, which is fight 3.
- Loser of fight 1 goes to fight 2.
- Winner of fight 2 goes to final. It means it's possible to meet the same competitor again in final fight.
- Winner of fight 3, wins category.
- Loser of fight 3 goes to second place.
- Loser of fight 2 goes to third place.
