Sharing a schedule

Jan 16, 2022, 11:00:00 AM UTC

Once registration is complete, it is possible to present the event schedule to the competitors. I.e. when and on which mat categories will be played.

There are several ways to share a schedule.

How do I make the schedule available?

To make a schedule available, first go to the list of created schedules for competitions (Management > Manage schedule):

Next to each schedule there is listed an "Options" button and a "Share" item:

When you select this option, a message will appear with the ways to share.

Ways of sharing

None

This is the default option. Any newly created schedule will not be available to players.

Static

This is a useful option when we will not be running fights through the system during the event. The categories played will be presented to the competitors in the same way as we arranged them on the mats.

I.e.

Category 1: 8:00 - 8:30
Category 2: 8:30 - 9:00

This means that the category will be played one after the other without interleaving fights. This schedule should therefore be treated as approximate. In practice, the fights are always intermixed.

Based on fights order

To be able to share such a schedule, we must first generate fights for it and then sort them (either automatically or manually).

For example, for an arrangement as before, we might have the following fights to play:

Category 1 - semifinal,
Category 1 - semifinal,
Category 1 - final
Category 2 - semifinal
Category 2 - semifinal
Category 2 - final

By sorting the fights accordingly (here dedicated article), we will make the categories overlap. I.e. to give the finalists from category 1 a little break, then we will start category 2 faster.

Hence, the schedule provided will be as follows:

Category 1: 8:00 - 8:40
Category 2: 8:20 - 9:00

This arrangement has caused the categories to stretch out. It gives a more accurate picture of when the categories will be played.

Setting planned version of schedule

When sharing a schedule based on fights order, we can also decide whether the version shared is to be our "planned version".

This option is ticked by default when sharing the schedule.

The planned version of the schedule is our baseline during the event to see what the delay or acceleration is, and also at what times exactly the categories were to start.

If we do not set a planned version, the default version shown on the schedule page is the current fight arrangement. This schedule may change if, for example, we move fights to another mat during the event.

Real time schedule

Real time schedule is available for competitors at any time if you have shared your schedule based on the order of fights. Competitors can switch to it on the official schedule page using the button:

Such a schedule works in the same way except that if, for example, there is a delay or an acceleration during the competition, this will be reflected accordingly:

If we have a time of 7:30 then even though category 1 was scheduled for 8:00, the schedule will show the categories playing out now:

Category 1: 7:30 - 8:10
Category 2: 7:50 - 8:20
